Kalpana Raj GAICD CPA

Kalpana is a qualified finance professional with over 20 years of experience in corporate finance, strategic business partnering, and governance. She currently serves as Regional Commercial Manager at Komatsu Australia, where she advises senior leadership, leads regional financial transformation initiatives, and manages operations across 15 branches.

Kalpana has held governance roles in the not-for-profit sector, most recently as Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Finance & Risk Committee at Women with Disabilities Victoria. In this capacity, she contributed to long-term financial sustainability through strategic cashflow planning, investment strategies, and the development of balanced scorecards. She is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

She brings expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and commercial evaluation and technical competencies spanning governance, risk and compliance, treasury management, auditing, financial analysis, ERP systems implementation, and business intelligence. She also brings experience in change leadership, project management, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Kalpana’s interest in joining the MCWH Board is driven by her commitment to advancing equity in women’s health and wellbeing. Her lived experience as a migrant woman of colour with an invisible disability informs her understanding of the systemic barriers faced by women in accessing healthcare and professional opportunities. She has actively contributed to inclusion and diversity initiatives, including policy reviews for inclusive language and practices.

Kalpana aims to apply her financial and governance expertise to support MCWH’s strategic objectives, including to the organisation’s long-term sustainability.
