The Health in My Language (HiML) project is a national initiative led by the Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health (MCWH), working in partnership with organisations across every state and territory in Australia.
HiML exists to make sure migrant and refugee communities have access to clear, accurate, and culturally relevant health information — in their own language. In 2025-2026, the project expanded the health topics delivered to:
Contraception Choices
Safer Sex (sexually transmitted infections)
Pregnancy Choices (including abortion and reproductive coercion)
Understanding Menopause
Let’s Talk Mental Health
Navigating the Australian Mental Health System
Lung Cancer Screening
Breast Cancer Screening
Bowel Cancer Screening
Cervical Cancer Screening
Managing Mental Health
To understand the impact of this work, MCWH engaged Clear Horizons to evaluate the program. Their findings, captured in the HiML 2025–26 Evaluation Report, were launched at the Multicultural Centre for Women's Health office by the The Hon. Rebecca White, Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, Indigenous Health and Women.
Read the evaluation report to see the full impact of Health in My Language across the country and read some stories from participants about the way these health education sessions changed their lives.
