This practical resource was developed through the Supporting Workers in FGM/C Training (SWIFT) project, delivered by the Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health (MCWH). It supports health workers to better understand and respond to the sexual health needs of women and girls affected by Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C). The guide provides foundational information on the impacts of FGM/C on sexual wellbeing, along with practical strategies for creating safe, respectful and trauma-informed conversations about sex, intimacy and support pathways.
Designed for a broad range of health and community professionals, the resource emphasises person-centered communication, cultural understanding, and the importance of supporting women’s autonomy, comfort and choice.
