Select Committee on Women’s Health Submission

In Australia, more than half the population was born overseas or has at least one parent born overseas, while more than 2.6 million women in Australia were born in a country where the main language is not English.

MCWH has over 47 years of practice and research insight to share migrant and refugee women’s experiences in the antenatal, pregnancy and postpartum periods. In this submission we have used this experience to respond to and provide evidence on all terms of reference for the Select Committee into Women’s Health.

Out of this evidence base, MCWH provides 20 recommendations for improving health access and outcomes for migrant and refugee women and gender diverse people.
