Maria joined MCWH in 2011 and has been involved in a number of research, training and project roles in areas relating to sexual and reproductive health, gender and racial equality, preventing violence against women and mental health. She has a Master of International Development and a PhD in Gender and Cultural Studies. Maria has worked as a casual tutor in memory and trauma studies and her qualitative research project explored intergenerational haunting among Cambodia-Australian women. Maria speaks Khmer and in her spare time she loves to run, read and hang out with her nieces and nephew.
