SWIFT is a national initiative led by the Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health (MCWH) that supports health workers across Australia to effectively prevent and respond to Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C). Through culturally responsive, trauma-informed training, practical resources, and a national Community of Practice, SWIFT builds the knowledge, skills, and collaboration health workers need to provide culturally safe care to women and girls affected by FGM/C.
Join the SWIFT National Community of Practice
The SWIFT National Community of Practice connects health professionals across disciplines—GPs, midwives, OB/GYNs, mental health practitioners, bilingual workers, and others—who are committed to improving health outcomes for women and girls affected by FGM/C.
By participating in the CoP, health workers will gain access to:
- A national network for peer learning and collaboration
- The latest clinical and cultural knowledge on FGM/C
- A chance to contribute to national efforts to eliminate FGM/C and improve care for women and girls affected by FGM/C.
Join SWIFT’s interactive online Community of Practice platform, launching June 2025, to gain access to FGM/C resources (including resources developed by SWIFT), connect and collaborate with fellow health workers and to share your own tools, experiences and insights from your practice. Upcoming CoP forums in 2025
MCWH will host 4 online CoP sessions throughout 2025 (April, June, August, and November). Each session will last between 1.5-2 hours and feature expert speakers, case studies, and facilitated activities aimed at fostering collaboration, sharing ideas and applying learned concepts related to providing effective health care for women and girls affected by FGM/C.
Health workers registered on the SWIFT National CoP online platform will be notified when session registrations are open. Stay connected to keep learning, sharing, and shaping better care for women and girls impacted by FGM/C.
