A message from the MCWH Chair of the Board
On behalf of the Board and staff of Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health, I am delighted to share our Strategic Plan for 2022-26 with you.
Our previous Strategic Plan drew to a close in mid-2020, when the world was gripped by the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At that time, the Board elected to postpone our next plan to prioritise supporting migrant and refugee communities, as well as our own organisation, through what has been a challenging, turbulent and ultimately rewarding period. We showed how nimble we can be and how quickly we can change course with the situation changes. We are extremely proud of what we were able to achieve to support migrant and refugee women’s health through this difficult time.
Our new Strategic Plan has been born out of the profound adaptation, growth and learning that our organisation has experienced throughout the last two years. We have arrived at a new vision for the future, which I believe is even more ambitious and wide-reaching than before: Migrant and refugee women are free from all forms of discrimination, have autonomy over their lives, and experience health equity, wellbeing, and safety in society.
We have also articulated a new purpose for our organisation in achieving that vision: We advocate and educate to strengthen the health, wellbeing, safety and leadership of migrant and refugee women in Australia.
Our vision and purpose are supported by our approach, which will carry us through the next four years and allow us to meaningful achieve our impact goals in five key areas. As you will read in the Plan, we will Empower, Transform and Collaborate in the fields of:
- Advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights
- Improving mental health and wellbeing
- Supporting COVID-19 recovery
- Enhancing workplace health and wellbeing, and
- Preventing violence against women and children.
It is significant that one of our three impact goals is Collaborate. The support of you: our partners, supporters, funders and stakeholders, is what gives us confidence that we can achieve our vision for migrant and refugee women’s health.
We welcome your feedback on the Plan and we look forward to implementing it with you.
I’d also like to take the opportunity to thank Heather Morecroft and Kuppal Palaniappan from Spark Strategy for facilitating the strategic planning process. I am grateful to the MCWH Strategic Planning Committee, Board and staff for their enthusiasm and support for this ambitious new Plan. There is a lot to look forward to on the horizon and we can’t wait to get started.
