Immigrant and refugee women, particularly those who are newly-arrived, often find navigation of the Australian health system intimidating, confusing and overwhelming. Furthermore, due to the gendered nature of vulnerability and health, women often demonstrate particular health access behaviours.
In response to this issue, MCWH has developed Navigating the system, a workshop which is based on the Women’s health map: A manual for community workers. This workshop is aimed at community and bicultural workers who might be assisting newly-arrived immigrant and refugee women to navigate the Australian health system.
This workshop consists of six modules that are best delivered in a two-hour session, however it can be modified or tailored to accommodate your organisation’s needs.
