community workshops program |
Multicultural Centre for Women's Health recognises that not
all women work in an established workplace. Many women work from home as outworkers or as
mothers and carers. Through the Community Workshops Program (CWP),
Multicultural Centre for Women's Health offers a range of health information sessions to women in the
community.
When and where are Workshops held?
Community Workshops usually take place in community locations convenient to the women
making the request. They may be held in Community Health Centres, Neighbourhood Houses,
Migrant Resource Centres, or here at Multicultural Centre for Women's Health.
Who conducts these Workshops?
Trained bilingual Community Health Educators conduct these workshops following the Multicultural Centre for
Women's Health woman-to-woman
approach, which encourages women to share health information
within a group. Usually, a Health Educator will run an introductory session with the group
in order to ascertain the needs of the women. Following this session, a series of
workshops will be planned. Our Health Educators use visual aids, provide multilingual
written information, and make referrals and suggestions, to assist women to access their
local health services.
