The project aims to:
1.Increase access to accurate and culturally tailored dual diagnosis information.
2.Increase CALD community referral pathways to AOD and mental health services.
3.Build the capacity of health professionals and community workers in AOD sector in providing culturally appropriate and responsive services to clients from CALD communities.
Immigrant and refugee communities generally access AOD services at lower rates than the rest of the Australian population for a number of reasons that include not being aware of available services; stigma associated with having an alcohol/drug problem; and lack of culturally appropriate services or understanding by AOD services of migrant and refugee issues. The project works towards addressing these issues and improve responses to AOD, mental health and dual diagnosis in immigrant and refugee communities across Victoria.
