Manager Education and Training Programs
Amira Rahmanovic
I have been Manager of Education and Training Programs at MCWH since 2008.
I coordinate the Bilingual Health Educators who deliver our Health Education Programs to immigrant
and refugee women. I also oversee the Professional Training Program which provides professional development for our Educators and external training for health professionals
and allied workers interested in immigrant and refugee women’s health and wellbeing. I began working at MCWH in 2001 as the Training Worker and then later Training Coordinator.
My passion is to empower women, to give them strength to have a voice and to stand up for their rights,
regardless of where they come from or their background.
I was born and educated in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital.
My journey to Australia was not planned, nevertheless I have never regretted living here. I graduated with a teaching degree from the University of Philosophy Sarajevo, majoring in Yugoslav Literature and Serbo-Croatian language. I was a passionate and unconventional teacher for more than 15 years.
In Australia, I transferred my skills to adult education and training. My work here has mainly been in training, teaching, and community development. I possess a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training and have completed numerous other courses related to my field of expertise.
I have two sons and a husband, two dogs and recently, I become grandmother! My biggest passions are social justice and my grandson!
