Vision
Better Health and Wellbeing for Immigrant and Refugee Women
Mission
Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health is committed to:
- empowering immigrant and refugee women across Australia through education to improve their own health and wellbeing;
- educating immigrant and refugee women through a culturally and linguistically specific, peer education model which respects their individual experience and knowledge;
- providing national leadership and excellence in multilingual health education, advocacy, training, and research with specific expertise in sexual, reproductive, occupational health, and physical and mental wellbeing.
MCWH Values
- Immigrant and refugee women have the right to self-determination in relation to their own health and wellbeing.
- Social determinants, including gender, race, culture, class, employment status, sexuality, disability, immigrant status, nationalism, and population control, impact on women’s health and wellbeing.
- The nature and status of women’s work, whether paid or unpaid, impacts on their health and wellbeing.

"Perhaps most importantly, MCWH
will be responding to change
— in our country’s demographics,
the workplace landscape, new
research knowledge, and of course,
national and local priorities.
One central tenet, however, will
remain the same: the MCWH focus
on immigrant and refugee women,
the philosophy that acknowledges
and respects immigrant and refugee
women’s knowledge and expertise,
and the commitment to improving immigrant and refugee
women’s health and wellbeing through
multilingual health education and information.
